Asphondylia verbasci (Vallot, 1827) is a species of gall midge in the family Cecidomyiidae.[2] It is a phytophagous insect known to interact with various plants in the genus Verbascum (Scrophulariaceae), including Verbascum pulverulentum, Verbascum speciosum, and Verbascum chaixii.[3]
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Asphondylia verbasci exhibits the characteristic delicate, slender morphology typical of many cecidomyiids.[1] The adults possess long, thin legs and antennae, with wings that are often held flat over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
