This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asphondylia solidaginis is a species of gall midge. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult flies exhibit the characteristic delicate, long-legged morphology typical of the family Cecidomyiidae.[1] They possess slender bodies and long, multi-segmented antennae. The wings are generally clear or lightly patterned, and the overall coloration often includes shades of brown or grey, which may provide camouflage when resting on host plants.[1]
Asphondylia solidaginis is a gall-inducing insect.[2] It is known to interact with plants in the genus Solidago (goldenrods), such as Solidago mexicana.[3] The species was described by William Beutenmüller in 1907.[4]
