Asphondylia resinosa is a species of gall midge. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult midge exhibits the characteristic delicate, slender morphology typical of the family Cecidomyiidae, with long, thin legs and antennae.[1]
Asphondylia resinosa is a gall-inducing midge, first described by R.J. Gagné in 1990.[2] It is known to induce galls on the creosote bush, Larrea tridentata (Zygophyllaceae).[3][4] The species occurs in Mexico, where it is one of several Asphondylia species documented.[3]
