Asphondylia ervi is a member of the family Cecidomyiidae, commonly known as gall midges. While specific morphological details are difficult to resolve from available imagery, members of the genus Asphondylia are generally characterized by their delicate, fly-like appearance, often associated with the formation of galls on host plants.[1]
Asphondylia ervi has been documented interacting with plants of the genus Vicia (vetches).[2] As with other members of the Cecidomyiidae, it is likely involved in gall induction on its host plants.
