This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asphondylia ceanothi, commonly known as the Ceanothus Bud Gall Midge, is a small fly belonging to the family Cecidomyiidae.[2] Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult midge exhibits a slender, delicate body typical of gall midges, with long, thin legs and elongated antennae.[1] The wings are generally clear and membranous, often held folded over the abdomen when at rest.[1]
Asphondylia ceanothi is a gall-inducing insect.[3] It is known to interact with various species of Ceanothus, including Ceanothus pendletonensis, Ceanothus tomentosus, and Ceanothus impressus, where it induces the formation of galls.[4] The species was described by Ephraim Porter Felt in 1908.[2]
