Asphondylia bullata is a species of gall midge. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult midge exhibits typical cecidomyiid morphology, characterized by a slender body, long, delicate legs, and relatively long antennae.[1] The wings are typically clear or lightly patterned, and the overall coloration is often muted, blending with the environment.[1]
Asphondylia bullata is known as the Creosote Stud Gall Midge.[2] It is associated with the creosote bush, Larrea tridentata, which serves as its host plant.[3] The species was described by R.J. Gagné in 1990 as part of a study on Asphondylia species associated with creosote bush in North America.
