This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asphondylia auripila is a gall-inducing midge. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the adult insects exhibit a delicate, slender body typical of the family Cecidomyiidae.[1] They possess long, thin legs and antennae, and their wings are generally clear or slightly dusky with reduced venation, which is characteristic of the genus Asphondylia.[1]
Asphondylia auripila is a gall-inducing species. It has been identified as a "superhost" for gall-inducing species on the creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) in temperate zones.[2] Interactions have also been recorded with other taxa, including various Hemiptera and the beetle Cysteodemus armatus.[3]
