Asphondylia atriplicis (Townsend, 1893) is a species of gall midge in the family Cecidomyiidae.[2] It is commonly known as the tumor stem gall midge.[2]
Asphondylia atriplicis is known to interact with the plant Atriplex lentiformis.[3] It also serves as a host for the parasitoid wasp Eupelmus chrysosinamorus.
Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Asphondylia atriplicis exhibits the characteristic delicate, long-legged morphology typical of many cecidomyiids.[1] The adults possess slender, elongated bodies and long, thread-like antennae.[1]
