Asphondylia antennariae is a species of gall-inducing insect in the family Cecidomyiidae. It was described by William Morton Wheeler in 1889.[1]
This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[2]
Based on observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, Asphondylia antennariae exhibits the characteristic morphology of a cecidomyiid fly.[2] The adult flies are small and delicate, with long, slender legs and antennae. The body is typically elongated, and the wings are relatively large in proportion to the body, often appearing translucent with fine venation.[2]
This species is known to induce galls on plants in the genus Antennaria, such as Antennaria howellii neodioica and Antennaria parlinii.[3]
