This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asiola lemniscata exhibits the characteristic body form of the family Asilidae, commonly known as robber flies. Observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate that this species possesses a slender, elongated abdomen and a robust thorax typical of the subfamily Asilinae.[1] The specimens display a distinct pattern of coloration on the abdomen, consistent with the specific epithet lemniscata, which refers to a ribbon-like marking.[1]
Asiola lemniscata was described by G. Daniels in 1977.[2] It is recognized as a member of the genus Asiola, which was established as a new Australian genus within the subfamily Asilinae.
