This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asilus ochripes is a species of robber fly within the family Asilidae. Morphological observations of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset indicate typical characteristics of the genus Asilus, including a robust, elongated body form characteristic of predatory Diptera.[1] Due to the nature of the available museum specimen imagery, specific diagnostic features such as precise setal patterns or wing venation details are not resolvable; however, the general habitus conforms to the expected morphology for this taxon.[1]
Asilus ochripes was described by the French entomologist Pierre-Justin-Marie Macquart in 1838.[2] The species is currently recognized as an accepted name within the genus Asilus.
