This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Asilus florissantinus is known from the fossil record. Observations of fossil specimens reveal an elongated, slender body typical of the family Asilidae. The preserved structures show a distinct, segmented abdomen and the characteristic venation patterns of the wings, which are consistent with the general morphology of the genus Asilus.[1]
Asilus florissantinus was described by M.T. James in 1939. The species is associated with the Florissant Miocene Beds, a significant fossil locality.[2]
