Aphoebantus transitus is a species of bee fly characterized by a slender, elongated body typical of the genus. Observations from photographic records show individuals with a brownish, patterned abdomen featuring distinct, lighter-colored transverse bands or stripes across the segments.[1] The wings are clear and membranous, with a venation pattern characteristic of the family Bombyliidae.[1]
Aphoebantus transitus was originally described by the entomologist D.W. Coquillett in 1886 under the name Leptochilus transitus.[2] It is currently recognized as an accepted species within the genus Aphoebantus.
