Anatella simpatica is a species of fungus gnat. Based on examination of specimens in the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, the species exhibits the characteristic delicate, slender body form typical of the family Mycetophilidae.[1] The specimens display long, thin legs and elongated antennae, which are consistent with the general morphology of the genus Anatella.[1]
Anatella simpatica was originally described by Dziedzicki in 1923.[2][3] Recent research has recorded the species in semi-urban habitats, such as at the Zoo Košice in Slovakia, where it was collected using CO2-baited traps during the summer months of July and August 2023.[4]
