The species has a broad continental distribution, ranging from Mexico south through Central America to South America, including Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil. In Mexico, it has been recorded in the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca. The Isthmus of Tehuantepec is considered a potential northern limit for its distribution, where it is regarded as rare and potentially threatened by deforestation.
