This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Anastrepha acidusa (Walker, 1849) is a species of fruit fly in the family Tephritidae.[2] Historically, the name was applied to fruit flies in Puerto Rico, particularly those infesting mangoes. However, taxonomic reviews have indicated that these earlier records were likely misidentifications of other species, and the name has been considered a synonym for Anastrepha fraterculus in some regional checklists.[3]
The available images from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset depict preserved museum specimens of Anastrepha acidusa.[1] These specimens exhibit the characteristic morphology of the genus Anastrepha, including a distinct, patterned wing venation typical of tephritid fruit flies. The body shows the general structure of a dipteran, with a well-defined thorax and abdomen. Due to the nature of the preserved specimens, finer diagnostic characters such as specific setal patterns or subtle abdominal markings are difficult to resolve in these images.[1]
