This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Anastoechus latifrons is a species of bee fly. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit the characteristic robust, hairy body form typical of the family Bombyliidae.[1] The body is densely covered in fine, pale-colored setae, giving the insect a fuzzy appearance. The wings are generally clear and held in a characteristic position when at rest.
Anastoechus latifrons was originally described by Pierre-Justin-Marie Macquart in 1839 as Bombylius latifrons.[2] It is currently an accepted species within the genus Anastoechus. While the genus Anastoechus is well-represented in Europe with numerous species, A. latifrons is not included in recent faunistic records for the European region.[3]
