This page represents the following TreeOfLife-200M taxonomic path.[1]
Anahydrophorus cinereus is a small fly characteristic of the family Dolichopodidae. Based on observations from the TreeOfLife-200M dataset, individuals exhibit a generally slender, metallic-toned body typical of long-legged flies.[1] The legs are notably elongated, a diagnostic feature of the family, and the wings are typically clear or slightly smoky with distinct venation patterns.[1]
Anahydrophorus cinereus was originally described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1805 under the name Scatophaga cinerea.[2] It is a member of the subfamily Hydrophorinae within the family Dolichopodidae.[3] The genus Anahydrophorus is considered monotypic.[4]
