Alcataenia larina is a species of tapeworm belonging to the phylum Platyhelminthes, class Cestoda, and order Cyclophyllidea. It is classified within the family Dilepididae. Preserved specimens of this species are maintained in the collections of the Natural History Museum of Denmark.[1]
The scolex of A. larina is bulbous in shape and features prominent, rounded suckers, or acetabula, which appear as dense, circular regions. The anterior end exhibits an irregular morphology, consistent with the presence of a rostellum or other specialized attachment structures. Staining of the specimen reveals these internal features in shades of deep amber and orange-brown.
