Alcataenia campylacantha is a species of tapeworm belonging to the family Dilepididae within the order Cyclophyllidea. Like other members of the class Cestoda, it is a parasitic flatworm. Preserved specimens of this species are maintained in the research collections of the Natural History Museum of Denmark.[1]
The morphology of A. campylacantha is typical of cyclophyllidean cestodes, featuring a distinct scolex and a segmented strobila. The scolex is characterized by a prominent, rounded anterior region equipped with suckers, or acetabula, which serve as attachment organs. The body consists of a series of proglottids, which exhibit a craspedote arrangement; the posterior margin of each segment overlaps the anterior margin of the following one, resulting in a serrated or saw-toothed appearance along the lateral edges of the strobila.
