Taxonomic Notes
Achalcus cinereus (Haliday, 1851) is an accepted species within the genus Achalcus.[2] It was originally described as Rhaphium cinereum by A.H. Haliday in 1851.
In taxonomic studies, A. cinereus serves as a reference point for distinguishing other members of the genus.[3] It can be differentiated from related species, such as Achalcus polleti, by the presence of a long ventral seta on the fore femur and by having ochreous yellow thoracic and abdominal setae, rather than dark ones. Additionally, the apical part of the vein CuA1 in A. cinereus is approximately equal in length to the outer crossvein (m-cu).
